Facebooks Dominating Effect

Facebook is in the news once more. If you haven’t heard, Facebook is joining
forces to teach and attract
small businesses to effectively use this
medium platform for marketing.

The social media giant has joined forces with the National Federation of Independent Businesses and the
U.S. Chamber of Commerce to help U.S. based small businesses grow to create more jobs by using Facebook.

While many small businesses may be disenchanted by the idea of being on Facebook, its sheer number of

users is reason enough not to ignore it. Facebook claims to have more than 800 million users–a
potential massive audience for small businesses if targeted properly.

For many of us, being on Facebook is a given, but there are still many business out there that do not see
the need for creating a Facebook page never mind using it for there business. Many still feel that Facebook
is personal, making it hard to get their mind around the thought of using it to promote there business.

This new program being presented by Facebook, will officially starts next month. They will host forums,
offer webinars, case studies and tips to educate the small business
owner on how to boost their
connection with customers while
also reaching new ones via the free tools such as pages and
platforms.

The real incentive for small businesses will likely be the free
advertising credits. Starting in
January, 200,000 businesses
around the country will get at least $50 of free advertisement

credits to be used on Facebook.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy and we believe that Facebook can be
a tremendous tool to fuel their growth and success,” said Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer
for Facebook.

Are we beginning to see a new trend develop, with larger business lending a hand to the small business
in this country? Since small businesses employ more than half of all private-sector workers and have
created more than 64% of all new jobs during the past 15 years. As the small businesses grow, will our
economy turnaround? Only time will tell, so in the mean time sit back and enjoy the ride.
